Why Zero Rust is better than Galvanizing (Zinc Plating) Zinc based products use oxygen to create zinc oxide which just lays there, has no significance and creates a dust over time you can wipe off with your finger, a chalk like substance. ZR rids the steel of oxygen, starves the steel of the oxygen and becomes a barrier coating. The oils in ZR oxidize not the metal. Oxidizing the metal, which galvanizing does creates rust. No oxygen/air = No rust and No oxidation creating a metal affinity. This is the most significant difference and advantage of zero rust versus any zinc based product. Why do so many use zinc based, well we do not know, if the people using it knew what it actually does they would not use it, ZR is the answer and can be applied directly over any oxidized zinc based product, we do it all the time over galvanzied roofs and galvanized materials.
ZR Prep – A biodegradable water based sealer encapsulating the steel excluding oxygen and phosphates to a pH6 ready for painting.
ZR Paint - A paint primer (or top coat) creates a barrier coating corrosion rated to a salt spray test 2400+ hours (ASTM-B117) @ 4 mils.
Crystal Coat - High solid, high gloss clear acrylic blend lacquer color stabilizer over Zero Rust Paint formulated for optimum UV protection.
